I write to purge the rage I feel at a world determined to destroy itself, to cope with my lack of control over the things I can't change, and to process messy feelings that often feel too big and all-consuming.

## About

I'm Kay Cook, querying my debut novel, an adult speculative romance. This Is Why We Survived is the origin of a dystopian world wrapped in a love story. I create stories for readers who want romance that feels messy and deeply human, showing how even in our darkest, lowest moments when all seems lost, love can remind us why we fight, inspire us to hope, and challenge us to want better for ourselves.
