Six years ago, coordinated bombings devastated ten major U.S. cities, including Seattle, killing Danni’s family. Since then, she’s learned a few things: people die, governments lie, and getting attached is a guaranteed way to get hurt. As environmental and economic instability take their toll, society begins to fracture. Danni prepares for the inevitable collapse with grim enthusiasm, having long ago made peace with the apocalypse.

Then she meets Logan, an officer for the Patrol, the financial elite’s private police force tasked with maintaining “order” in a rapidly unraveling Seattle. Haunted by his past and torn between duty and conscience, Logan has walls and secrets of his own. While Danni struggles to understand the man behind the uniform and cope with her warring mind, the world around them becomes impossible to ignore. The wealthy and connected retreat into fortified towers and floating strongholds, hoarding what remains of the world’s dwindling resources. 

Danni’s anxiety becomes crippling. But the nightmare is just beginning. An underground rebellion known as the Conclave has begun to rise. Before long, Danni is forced to pick a side in a war she’s spent years hiding from. She soon finds herself in a violent fight for her life.

As Seattle edges toward collapse and rebellion threatens to ignite and burn it all down, she must choose between protecting her heart and risking everything for the chance at a life worth surviving for.
